Not bitter.

My family has done well. And I have experience with people that are struggling in life. And too often I find myself thinking ‘All they need to do is…’ But then I remind myself that from my vantage point things are easy.

For example, I own 3 rental properties. One of my tenants was short on the rent, short just a couple of hundred bucks short. Both partners smoke, smoking in Canada is darn expensive. $7.00 a pack, got 2 smokers smoking, 2 packs a day.. (7*2*30=$420)… So when the tenant was telling me they were short I am thinking in my mind ‘You cannot afford to smoke, quit smoking.’ But for me, as a non-smoker, it is easy to think/say that.

Just like from Shoe’s vantage point it is pretty easy (or seemingly easy, so he makes it seem) to do well on the Internet.

Please hold as we route your chat to an Adobe Representative.

Welcome to Adobe.com! My name is Pierce. May I assist you with your selection today?

Pierce: Hello, how can I help you?

Paul Avery: Hi

Paul Avery: i stupidly bought CS4 master collection

Pierce: Hello Paul.

Paul Avery: and now I see Cs5 is coming out

Paul Avery: for the same price that I paid

Paul Avery: if i would have waited 3 or 4 weeks I could have got CS5 Master Collection for the same price

Paul Avery: so I wanted to figure out if there is something you can do for me

Paul Avery: Bought it March 23, 2010

Paul Avery: i bought directly from adobe too

Paul Avery: ID: paul.avery@skygle.com Order #AD002975994 Products ordered: Qty Product 1 Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection (Windows,English) Total purchase amount: US $2,823.87

Pierce: Since you’ve already placed an order for Adobe S4 Master Collection on March 23, 2010 you can upgrade to Adobe CS5 Master Collection.

Paul Avery: for free?

Pierce: No, you need to pay for the upgrade.

Pierce: Paul, according to Adobe Post Announce Upgrade Policy customers who purchase an Adobe product during a limited time after Adobe announces a new product version are only eligible for a free upgrade to the current version.

Paul Avery: what is the current version? CS4 or CS5?

Pierce: We currently have both Adobe CS4 and CS5 available on our website.

Pierce: Adobe CS5 products are now available as pre-order.

Pierce: Paul, if you buy Adobe CS4 products now, you’ll be eligible for free upgrade to Adobe CS5 once it is released.

Paul Avery: but CS5 is not ready until mid-may…?

Pierce: Yes, you’re correct.

Paul Avery: ok, but do you see my point?

Paul Avery: i paid $$2823 (taxes in)

Paul Avery: and now CS5 is $2599 (no taxes)

Paul Avery: and the upgrade charge is $899

Paul Avery: i’d be OK if CS5 was $700 or more expensive

Paul Avery: but it is essentially the same price

Pierce: I understand, since you have already purchase Adobe CS4 Master Collection you need to buy Adobe CS5 product now.

Paul Avery: no, I don’t need to

Paul Avery: but I want CS5 upgrade for the difference between what I paid and what CS5 is selling for

Pierce: Since you have Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection, you can upgrade to Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection for US$899.00

Pierce: Adobe CS5 Master Collection includes: Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended, Illustrator CS5, InDesign CS5, Acrobat 9 Pro, Flash Catalyst CS5, Flash CS5 Professional, Flash Builder 4 Standard, Dreamweaver CS5, Fireworks CS5, Contribute CS5, Premiere Pro CS5, After Effects CS5, Soundbooth CS5, OnLocation CS5, Encore CS5.
